That's true, all of the US matches were full of drama. It made for exciting watching, but my blood pressure went through the roof. The fact is that good teams don't have that much drama. We are not a power by any means, merely a good team who had a good run. Overall, a respectable showing.
The complaint I keep hearing about English football is that there is so much emphasis on club ball that the players do not have much energy for the World Cup, nor do they have much time to play together. Yet they blew through qualifying. My suspicion is that teamwork doesn't matter so much in qualifying, but in the upper levels it is the difference. England did not play well as a team. Neither die we, frankly. That was the difference.
I'm also very excited about Spain/Portugal tomorrow. That will be a great matchup.
