That 2-2 goal could have changed the game completely. That is true. But it's also a fact that the english defense was terrible in the game. It's strange that a team that played good football in the qualification rounds wasn't able to really play a good game in the world cup itself. It's a shame. There is a long culture of following english football in Iceland so many support the english team. My father is a supporter of Liverpool for instance so he followed Gerrard closely. But as matters stand now the Germans have a much better team. They are quicker, more creative and have better ball technique. They outplayed the english so I believe the better team won today. But I still don't understand how the refs didn't see that it was a goal. It was so clearly inside the line.

But Germany-Argentine will be awesome.


Your USA team was fun to watch. Have tried to watch every USA game in the worldcup since 2002 when the US and S-Korea were the so called sputnik teams of the tournament. 2 wrongly disallowed goals and a goal in the final minute to advance to the final 16. There's no lack of drama in the US game.

That match was a farce. The goal might of changed the game if it was allowed but England were pure fucking shit. Players in unfamiliar positions and useless defenders who played crap throughout the tournament (Johnson and Upson) who kept cocking up and got to stay on till the end - the Germans were too fast and too powerful for them and it showed. They were also a lot more skilled and creative. When Englands defense had the ball 99% of their actions was to pass it to each other or the goalkeeper as they aren't creative enough to pass it forward - it was like watching my beloved Manchester United last season.

I still think Argentina will beat them no problems. Germany almost couldn't beat Ghana who deserved to beat them. England was a disaster waiting to happen. If they couldn't beat a big team now they couldn't do so in the final.

On Argentina it was a farce as well - an offside goal that opened the scoring. Though that doesn't exempt the stupid Mexican who passed the ball to an Argentinian who went on to score. But thats football!

That's true, all of the US matches were full of drama. It made for exciting watching, but my blood pressure went through the roof. The fact is that good teams don't have that much drama. We are not a power by any means, merely a good team who had a good run. Overall, a respectable showing.

The complaint I keep hearing about English football is that there is so much emphasis on club ball that the players do not have much energy for the World Cup, nor do they have much time to play together. Yet they blew through qualifying. My suspicion is that teamwork doesn't matter so much in qualifying, but in the upper levels it is the difference. England did not play well as a team. Neither die we, frankly. That was the difference.

I'm also very excited about Spain/Portugal tomorrow. That will be a great matchup.

Same for me Warlock. Was rooting for the deutsch. It had been amazing watching their games. But it was a fair victory. Spain hadn't been playing all that well in the tournament but they had an great game versus the germans. Controlled the game for the full 90 mins and a fair victory.

Well the Spainish bastards won - i was routing for Holland, however i must admit Holland di\dn't deserve it.

Arjen Robben should of buried that shot and if he did Holland would of won it in normal time. Also the stupid English ref should of gave a corner instead of a goal-kick - a goal-kick that lead to the passage of play that Spain scored from.

The only highlight of the last day of the World Cup for me was seeing Shakira shake her shimmy!
