Moved from other thread:

IraShaine wrote:You know what we could do is we could all get our heads together and book a weekend at a Red Lion or some such hotel and see how much one of there multi purpose rooms costs to rent out for say 2 days and stage our very first independantly run Yammercon.

Therin we can game, eat, shoot the shit trade stuff and so on.

We can all pitch in.

If we go independant, we should look at community centers to rent for a day or two as most should be cheaper than anything in a hotel.

So everywhere else is just second place? Well... even GenCon started out in another location. So if attendance rates double the GenCon Yammer attendees, I say it could be officially declared "moved". :)

Good idea EE on the community center, if we get that big that we need a place to rent out. Im thinking 5-10ppl max, this time anyway. And taking over a free table at a local con would be the cheap and easy way out, since the work is done for you and there are other events to fill in for things to do.

I agree a table at a con would be the best place for us to start, right now.

So now the question is where and when are the west coast cons?

Norcal has a few left this year.

Conquest Scaramento: end of March (too soon)
Kublacon: Memorial day weekend
Pacificon: Labor day weekend

Memorial day would probably be busy for me. Where is pacificon held now? Frankly I dont think that renting a baunquet room at a large hotel in Portland would be all that bad. AND the whole idea is to run our own games. I can bring Flames of War, WFB and WAB and boardgames.

Pacificon is in Santa Clara at the Marriott Hotel.

I know we are wanting to run our own games, I'm sure with enough planning this can be done at a con.

The banquet room I'm sure is doable, I was just opining on Nekrons con idea.

I can bring FOW, WFB, 40K, Heavy Gear.

We're three months into 09... could we shoot for West Coast Yamcon 2010? I know it would be great to have everyone in the same place, but maybe we could set up teleconferencing with Indy and have it at the same time or something?

Well then it would probably just be like me and easy eight. I dont even know where he lives.

We could shoot for 2010. I guess.........

I am retiring the first part of 2011 so I will have plenty of time then.

I really would like to do something this year.

I'm in the bay area near Concord. With enough lead time I can do something this year. Hell we've still got 9 months to go.

Are there any late in the year cons in Washington?

The only thing I know up here is that we just had a Rogue Trader Tournament a month or so ago.
I don't keep up with the conventions any more. Someone pretty much has to suggest it to me twice before I have any idea when something is happening.
Maybe Nekron knows something.
EDIT: If you do it this year, and it's not somewhere I can drive to, then I may not show.

Indy Grand Tournament, other gaming, minis and RPGs, etc.

It was already in January this year, so pencil in your calendars for January 2010... the year we make contact. In Seattle...
