Here is the Conquest Sac site; there are no dates for 2010 yet, but it will be in March.

I like the variety of games there but I noticed that It didnt list any 40K games. We could hold our own I supose...

I was just wondering if we are 90-100% committed to ConQuest SAC 2010 as the West Coast Yammercon? The reason I ask is because I'm filling out my work calendar for the next year and want to allocate the time to meeting you guys.

This far out everything is a 'yes' for me. Later on Ill have to pare priorities down as time gets allocated to pop-up things and unexpected expenses.

Wait, what? Everything's a yes for you to go to Sacremento?

I just checked with Travelocity and a ticket to Sacremento was $230. A ticket to Indy for Gen Con 09 was $250. Dude, I'll give you the extra $20... seriously dude... seriously... dude... seriously...

I mean, I know we've been talking up a west coast thing, but if it's only going to save $20 over going to GenCon...

I can most likely do it even without any real planning ahead. Sac is only a 5 hour drive for me and I already know my way around town pretty well. Just need a reminder come next March.

One of these damn days I will make a trip over for one of these things. But it is not this day!

Besides I'm going back to Missouri this September. That's costing me enough in flights and a shitty low rate hotel room already.

If you guys really want to go with a budget "YamConWest", I could always get us a Saturday (or Sunday) "reservation" for the game space at the FLGS here in Concord*, make my guest room available (if I don't have a roommate by the time we have the get-together), and put up my big "hunting" tent in my backyard (sleeps 8 according to Cabela's) for anyone who doesn't want to get a hotel or stay with EE and drive 20-30 minutes in.

Fulminata gets dibs on the guest room, if he comes back out from AR for this - his dog used to live in my backyard, so he gets first shot at the room.

One of the big draws for me is all the vendors at GenCon. The displays and Con only minis as well as good deals on stuff I would have bought online if I could have laid eyes on it and seen how awesome it really is. Second would be all the freaks in their costumes. These are both things you'll only find at a convention. If we just held it at some random hotel or game store I don't think I would go. It has to be a convention for me, and the bigger the better.

The problem is, most airfares to places that have those kind of conventions aren't substantially cheaper than just going to Gen Con.

Well, Berkeley is just across the hills...

I won't be making it to any YamCons, east or west, until at least 2010. My wife has to be capable of driving herself to work before I can take time off by myself, and she is procrastinating on getting her driver's permit :P

I just registered for this Con:

PAX 2010 Its in Seattle September 3-5th, over Labor Day Weekend. I think it might be a good spot for a West Coast Yam get together,so check it out. Still 5 months away, so you have time.

Its mostly for video gaming, but Im sure we could throw down some board games or something, theres usually a 40K tourney, Settlers of Catan, etc and draws a pretty big crowd. I plan on taking the bus back and forth to Seattle to save on hotel fare, and I can also provide crash space for a few folks. A 3-day pass to the con is only $55.00, and bus fare is $2.50 each way for a 1hr ride. Not too bad. (Compared to nearly $400 for hotel, I'd rather save my cash for the dealers room). The con is right downtown in a huge convention center, close to Pike Market, and other Seattle sights. Local busses are free during the day so getting around is easy. Theres a huge gameworks arcade right next door that I have been wanting to try, I think its like a Dave and Buster's place.

If you fly into Seatac I'll even pick you up. There are folks coming from Cali on the train every year, making a fun ride up. Check out the forums page.

PAX East was in Boston, MA in March. It sold out too, so dont count on registering at the door. Guest Speaker was Will Wheaton... "!!! WHEEEEAATTOONNNN !!!!"
Any takers?
