8th Edition and My Tomb Kings

Postby Warhammer98 on Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:45 am

As near as I can tell from reading the Store Copy of the new 8th edition rule book, Tomb Kings are going to need some kind of FAQ to let us know how to properly execute the Tomb King magic phase.

Tomb Kings do not generate "power dice" so there is no generation die role. So no dispell dice are generated. There is no mechanic/process in the rules for the other player to get his dispell dice.

Also, now that the spell caster level is added to the cast and dispell role, what do the Tomb Kings do if anything? The rules discuss the Dwarfs and how thier dispell attempts are modified, but nothing on the Tomb Kings.

Also also, I think the Tomb Kings spells are going to be alot easier to dispell if thier are no additions to the Tomb King casting and the opponant can add thier caster levels to the dispell attempt.

Sad Face.

I think the new changes are going to be a good thing over all; even the magic phase changes. Looking forward to playing with the new rules. Our local game store is hosting a role-out special event on the 10th. Should be fun.

They haven't actually said it yet, but the picture that came with the release date announcement shows Skaven and High Elves, and those were the rumored choices even before the announcement.

Last I heard the army book FAQs for 8th are coming out on the 10th. There were rumors that Tomb Kings are also on the short list for a new army book. From what I've seen they're probably the hardest hit by the new rules barring a lot of changes in the FAQ.

The exact figure contents are all over the place. Warseer has some good pics in the forums. There is a High Elf lord on griffon a HE mage 10 swordmasters, 10 sea guard and 5 Ellyrian Reavers.

For Skaven there is 40 clanrats a skaven lord 2 rat ogres and a few other things I forget.

Those models look fantastic. I may wind up buying it for the Elf Lord on Griffon.

Yeah, that was the turning point for me. Even knowing that it's probably just going to sit on the sprue for several years, I must have it :P
